2003 – Present: Hurlingham School, Putney, London (4-11 year olds)
I am Head of Early Years, part of the school’s Senior Leadership management team, and PSHE subject co-ordinator for the Lower school.
I teach a Reception class of children from 4-5 following the UK National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Class sizes range from 20 -22.
My current responsibilities include:
- Responsibility for the teaching, learning and smooth operation of Early Years' education
- Active role in the wider life of the school, including the development, implementation and evaluation of school policies.
- Ongoing Communication with the Headmistress, the Deputy Head and other Heads of Key Stages, to ensure the continuity and progression of teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Regular social and professional meetings with parents, which I see as vital to their child’s development.
- Ongoing assessments, detailed record keeping, and regular report writing, following the Foundation Stage Profile.
- Management and reporting of Early Years’ staff meetings.
- Early Years’ staff support to ensure a happy and professional working environment.
- General pastoral care for incidents relating to behaviour and well-being within Reception / Early Years.
- Reviewing the Early Years’ curriculum to ensure that high standards are introduced.
- General Assistance and support to the Headmistress – e.g. taking assemblies, organising cover for absent colleagues, and overseeing the organization of parents’ evenings.

1995 – 2003: Hill House International Junior School Chelsea, London (4-13 year olds)
- Class teacher in one of the UK’s largest private Junior Schools. I taught the National Curriculum to 4-6 year old boys and girls, with class sizes ranging from 12 – 14
