Work Experience

2003 – Present: Hurlingham School, Putney, London (4-11 year olds)

I am Head of Early Years, part of the school’s Senior Leadership management team, and PSHE subject co-ordinator for the Lower school.

I teach a Reception class of children from 4-5 following the UK National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage. Class sizes range from 20 -22.

My current responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for the teaching, learning and smooth operation of Early Years' education
  • Active role in the wider life of the school, including the development, implementation and evaluation of school policies.
  • Ongoing Communication with the Headmistress, the Deputy Head and other Heads of Key Stages, to ensure the continuity and progression of teaching and learning throughout the school.
  • Regular social and professional meetings with parents, which I see as vital to their child’s development.
  • Ongoing assessments, detailed record keeping, and regular report writing, following the Foundation Stage Profile.
  • Management and reporting of Early Years’ staff meetings.
  • Early Years’ staff support to ensure a happy and professional working environment.
  • General pastoral care for incidents relating to behaviour and well-being within Reception / Early Years.
  • Reviewing the Early Years’ curriculum to ensure that high standards are introduced.
